Dinner @ JH-VVN's sweet home

Well, although exams is near, i still managed to steal a quick meal at JH-VVN's place. And its a "atas" meal with "atas" setting. Look below to see the photos. Well, they got this new house which is not yet fully furnished. And the couple hav been using it as a chalet home for them to host dinners n get together. Which is pretty nice of them.
Their sweet home is at Jur West, where we previously went to BBQ. lol I wonder if i blog that before. The smoke n mess we created.... This time, the house has more furniture n looks great! Didnt take much photo as the impt thing is the dinner.

Food tat DH n VVN prepared that day, (from Clockwise, Watercress n sweet onion soup by DH - Interesting combi. A mixture of chinese n western flavours. Stir fried prawns by VVN - Simple yet nice dish. To bad the prawns were not tat fresh. Baked baby potatos by DH - Not my cup of tea, as i nvr liked potatos. But its relatively tasty. I heard there is jus salt in it. Not bad. Ceaser's salad with fake bacon bits by DH. Not a fan of greens too, some more its not chilled enough. Hence u get to eat soggy greens without bacon. Oh, there is no sauce too... Making it even less appeal to me. lol. My tasting tends to be a bit heavy. Pls pardon me.)

On top of this there is also grilled chicken by VVN. Which i forgot to take. Coz when it came, we jus gobble it up. Wahaha. They are nice too. Lots garlic which i like. :)

The gang of us, The guy in red is DH, chef for the salad, potato n soup. VVN is the only girl. The guy in green is JH n WS is jus too drunk to take a photo. lol. The setting is nice hor! Machiam is restuarant sia! Some more got red wine glass n tea lights!

Next one the menu is Dessert by DH. Very easy dish but score on the estheticity. lol Dragon fruit dug out n chop into cubes n place sweet corn icecream on the skin n the fruit n top. Nice hor!

After which we slack around n chat till midnight before we bid goodbye to the host. Thanks too~ N end up playing DOTA with WS at bukit timah till err... 6am. lol. Haha, i still managed to wake up at 8am to do my work before going to school to study.

That sum up my weekend, n next week is gonna be busy coz i NEED to study my exams...

BBQ @ WC Park

Had an unusual BBQ session with a bunch of people of similar interest organised by Derold. N josh was made the chief chef of the day. Or rather the only chef of the day. lol.

It was actuall raining that afternoon. In fact, there was a thunder storm. But somehow or rather, i didnt called the organiser, coz somewhere in my heart, i was thinking, things wouldnt turn out that bad. N it really didnt. :) It pretty much stopped raining completely the moment we stepped into the park. First, the four of us, including ben, recced the place for a possible makeshift BBQ campsite. Yes, apparantly we didnt book the BBQ pits. They were fully booked. Well, we werent the only people around enjoying the holiday. (FYI, its actually a day not to be celebrated, according to the christian or catholics. Details, i dun know. Ask ur fellow "ahlehruya" p.s. Its a joke, sorry if i offend anyone there.)

Site 1; A empty shelter at the corner of the park, surprisingly not occupied. Judging from the number of people in the park. Made a quick dash to the place. Before we actually entered the shelter, i made a comment, "it so near the bushes, surely many mosquitoes..." Then i got a reply, "Well, since we are here to feed ourselves, it wouldnt do much harm if we feed others too." lol. So we jus walked in. In approximately 30secs in the shelter, i sensed something is wrong. There seems to be quite a number of mosquitoes around. Expecially when its right after the rain. A quick glance below my chest, 10-15 mosquitoes flying around me... Quick nudge n short jump, "lets get out of here! So many mosquitoes!!! Argh!!!" *PIAK!!!* "Sorry boy, i think u drank enough to ur grave..."

BBQ was amazing, or rather josh made it so. Well, he kinda made a lot of nice food. Esp stuffs which i like. Thanks! There were...

An overview of the pits n food we had.

Big prawns! Mildly seasoned to bring out its original taste! Love em!

Bacon with asparagus! My fav Tori Q food. Sinful meat with a touch of vege. Now its a healthy food! Didnt get to eat the mushroom ones...

Pork slices. Thick n juicy pork in herbs. Simply tantalising... There were another simple teriyaki sauces.

Seafood parcel. Josh trademark dish. He whips out this dish when i first went to his BBQ in 2006 n its has been my fav since. He did another parcel this time n its sotong stuffs with minced pork with chestnuts! Definately on my booking list next time he BBQ. Too bad i didnt get photos of it. But i think it would be rather difficult to make since u need to stuffs the pork inside.

How can a BBQ goes without wings! They are a must have. This time josh did teriyaki and honey. Mind u, this guys make his own teriyaki sauce using the basics. N they are goooood...

This is the great chef!

"Cookers" or "BBQers" of course i am also one...

Ouch! Its on fire!!!

N these are the "eaters"

More eaters!!!

After BBQing, we adjourned to mac for drinks n small talks. Oh, its my first time meeting Ronnie too, n a couple of other friends too. Mmm... short talk s became long talks as we had a great talking sessions together.

Wat a great day n great people we met today!
All thanks to the chef n organiser! n me too. :) er... for eating the food. lol.

Nighty nights. late le... or rather early le, 0320 20/03/08

Eventful Friday

Well, it all started when i wake up....
"oh oh oh woke up today, feeling the way i always do, oh oh oh.... Good Morning Baltimore..."
Oh crap. I didnt really wake up tat early today too. lol
Well, i jus went for lunch with josh n xinrong @ the Pasir Panjang Yess Centre For its BBQ buffet. :)
This is wat we had...

Opps, apparantly i posted another of my breakfast photo, please read on n i will tell u where is it taken.

Ngee Ann Poly FC 2 i think. The one facing the busstop one. Was there on Mon i think for breakfast n we decided to have "yong tao hu" They dun have very fanciful stuffs, jus the usuals but one think worth commenting was the use or fryer to fried the "fried stuffs" as u can see. I feel its pretty worth it since they put in extra efforts to fry them n it makes them really nice.

This one from Ajitei at IMM, after wolfing down the ramen n side dishes, (notice there is no picture coz we were "wolfing" down the ramen.) we order this to sweeten up the meal. Looks nice. The top was chestnuts finely smashed n whipped into a cream form. the pink n white balls were glutinous rice, i think. It taste like "tang yuan". The peanuty stuffs behind is actually some gultinous rice again, coated in peanuts of course... Lastly the brownish cubes are honey jelly which is very nice n cooling. Machiam herbal jelly. :)

Oh, another breakfast my buddy and i had at Jur West St 51. We were there coz he needs to send something to his cousin house which is round the corner. Recommend him the chicken porridge with raw fish "yu sheng". This is the stall who inspired me to make my yusheng the other time. Though big bear dun like to eat raw fish nor ginger in it, i still order coz i think its really nice. End up he feels so too, but if only there is no ginger inside. lol Maybe special order for u next time. :) Well, he did say the porridge was smooth n the chicken was nice. *Yeah!

Ok, finally we are at "Ju Shin Jung" liao. This is wat we had. The grill n the varies side dishes n sauces we had.

The saba which i ordered. It not fishy n nicely grilled.

This is the chicken. Looks nice hor. Of course la! N taste nice n juicy hor! We end up eating 7 portions of chicken n pork. They were all very nicely seasoned. Turn up Xinrong is a good eater too. :) More buffet with him the next time. lol

Beef soup that josh ordered. Very tasty.

Cold noodles that xinrong ordered. Its cold, of course, der... The noodles is mixed with the bibimbad sauce. It tangy n soft. Very highly recommended. But beware, the serving is pretty big.

The huge plate of greens for u to wrap the meat. Well, i think the meat taste pretty well without the veges. lol

Err... Those who are actually thinkin wat food it is pls slap urself to wake up. Dun dream about this restuarant anymore. lol Its actually face towel. Y i tok this pic coz initially it was shrink wrap n u need to add water to make them expand. Pretty interesting for me. p.s. i know there is such thing around ok....

Pic of josh with his fav rabbit character at the IT show. Actually was intending to go IT fair after lunch but was called upon by my lecturer to attend a seminar. Because a whole lot of us was intending to skip it coz we find them very boring. (It really very boring in the end... ) But the lec call, so give him face loh... lol
IT show was a boring place for me, coz... Well, asus had a better offer for the lappy that i m using now, at the same price... Sianz... But in the end i felt better coz i went to sign up the starhub maxonline where i actually save 10 bucks of the current price i am paying. I am paying the full price now n without a contract. Apparantly starhub dun allow u to get a discount unless u recontract. So i waited pretty long before this. N end up i got a 26" samsung LCD TV which will only come at may... so long... n a wall calender which u will see later n 40 bucks robinsons voucher. Not bad la. Consider that if i jus recontract without the free TV n get a 25% discount instead, i would save 300 bucks. So TV better worth ba. :)

Dinner is "Teahouse" at City hall with compliments from sean. Thanks! Ww had this "mala" duck. Duck is actually my fav food. Roast one esp. :P n "Teahouse" nvr fails its customer. :) Though the food took a real long time to come...

Seafood "Taohu". Not bad, batter is good n lite with a soft mixture of prawn n carrot n celery n taohu, i think :)

Claypot chicken. Well i find they cant be lousy whoever cooks it. The mushroom is great n the chicken jus tender. Simple n nice dish over rice.

Well we had donuts after that. A new one n pretty nice one at city hall. J.co donuts. Check it out at www.jcodonuts.com. Had half a dozens n some drinks. Forgot to take photos coz its gobbled down pretty fast. lol. Anyway the photo above was because i was overcharged for the donuts... they should cost $7 bucks for 6 but the lady didnt give me the discount. Maybe she calculated the donuts in threes n the computer didnt realised. Since we were leaving when i saw this, so i didnt pusue them. But was disappointed ba...
Anyway, the donuts were fantastic! I tried a few, like munchies n such but i think they really make them good. The crust were crispy, (maybe we had them jus out from the deep fryer), the cream was jus a dainty too sweet. I would really recommend this. Its at City hall basement 1. gogogo!!!

Lastly i took a pic of the calender from starhub. Interesting one as u can write on the plasitc using a white board marker. But the one accompanied was lousy, couldnt even write! end up i use my red marker n kinda improvised it a bit. :)

Nice!

OK the end, sorry there is no jap pic yet...

Yusheng at CC place

The whole lot of us gathered ourself at cc place for Yusheng the other day. I made yusheng for the day. It was jus lettuce as the main ingredient. No fanciful coloured stuffs. Other ingredients were carrot, jap cucumber, spring onion, salmon (self sliced by me :), jelly fish from cold storage. Crackers n sauce from market n a special sauce made by joshua.

Turn out it was a great yusheng, everyone praised the fresh n crunchy lettuce. (The trick is to store it really really cold.) The jelly fish adds tangyness in it. Salmon was fresh n the crackers were nice too.

In between we also played marjong n poker n i won a total of $30 over bucks. :)

After tat Adeline cooked dinner for us n it was impressive.

Great day!

That's the Yusheng i made! With the yuppies gang. :)

Wah... "Hao Xin Fu wo!!!" the lady master making dumplings for the hungry men.

Master Chef at work, Stir-fried pork

A whole table of food cooked by her. So homely.....

OK enough blogs i guess, hopefully i have time to post my japan photos up...

Congrats Kiran

Our classmates got married over the weekend at the Singapore Association. It was my first indian wedding dinner n we got him a few precious moments and a huge card which we signed on it. They have potato wedges n tantoori chicken for starters. As we were pretty hungry then, we took kinda a lot for all to eat. N i mean ALOT! lol End up when they really start the dinner i was pretty much full le. Dinner is buffet style, so as they announce the start of the buffet, u could see a whole lot of people rushing over, including me la! :)

Food were not bad. They hav dry n tough nann, brayani rice, dal (which i did not touch at all!!) papadum, chicken curry, fich curry, mutton curry. Wat else do u expect? lol
