Dinner @ 'fins', Marina Square

Was shopping for a gift yesterday at MS, end up never buy anything n had a heavy meal, yes... another heavy meal @ 'fins'.

'fins' was a small restuarant at a corner of MS. If u know where is 'yakun' u should b able to find it. Its a seafood rest, so u get lotsa fishy stuffs there. Josh n I had calamari, cod n chips, squik-ink pasta, seafood chowder and a stir-fry mussels.

The ambience was pretty cosy, quite a small restuarant with simple setting. Food was alright. The seafood chowder came first n was quite a delight. Next came the mussels which was the best dish of the day. It was at a promo price of $9.95 bucks so de decided to give it a try. Its stir fried in basic garlic n wine which i find that the taste is jus subtle. :) Then came the calamari which was kinda over fried. Its too dry n the batter wasn't really so good. the squik-ink pasta was cheesy. Josh n I was debating whether its the cheese that create the taste or its the squik-ink. Mmmm... Last to come was the cod n chips. Which was.... Mmm... "I think I can get it at a cheaper price ba" lol. But according to the menu, it should be a better fish. Well.. they all look like white fish meat to me. So no much difference loh.

So wats a blog of food without photos?!?

Enjoy~

Starters which was the seafood soup. Nice~

Squik-ink pasta. Nice but if there were some condiments around would be better. The fried calamari on top was lousy n it was like picked up from the calamari that we ordered. Sianz...

Cod n chips. No comments, jus cod n chips loh. Not naming them 'fish' was a good idea to lure more customers.

My Favourite dish. The MUSSELS~ Nice, or Mmm... (finding more tasty words on thesaures.com) Ok, they are appetizing, delectable, delish, divine, flavorful, luscious...

More tasty mussels.

Lastly.. the over-fried, over-dried, over the lousy moon calamari....

Next up, CC wedding. :) Gonna be a long one...

Wishing u a blissful marriage CC n Ade!!!

It was a super long weekend for me n my fellow buddies who are helping out CC n Ade in their marriage. We met as early as 4am in th morning as they are a teow chew family, n its their tradition to "jie xin niang" at the wee hours of the day. I was also "luckily" called upon to stay overnight with the groom as it also another tradition. Though we didnt really "stayed overnight" at all, all we got was approximately 1hr of sleep. :).

We set off around 5.30am. half an hours behind schedule coz his mum went to get pig leg which was also another tradition... Well, the delay was good as we can use it as a excuse to play lesser sabotage. *yeah!. We reached woodlands around 6, n was greeted by the first mission, which is to shout out loud to the bride at the 6th level, "Laopo, Wo lai jie ni le!" This was jus the easiest task of all, more to come when we went upstairs.

Right out of the lift, the sisters passed us some skirts. Supposely for tht brothers to wear. Luckily i was rather chubby, lol, hence the skirt didnt fit. ;) Hence no need to wear for me. lol. They also offered a plastic bag for the groom as they "didnt want to stain the suit" Mmmmm.... Actually tot it was some "dirty" game. Then, turn out it was 'pass the stuffs around with ur month game'. Actually it was rather easy but the one beside me was KB.... The very "qua zhang" one... The first task was to pass a glico porkey accross using our mouth. (For those who nvr see the video, imagine u are taking a glio commercial, n u have to do the extremely big movement to ur mounth to eat it. N thats KB...) Porkey was easy, but the ext one is disgusting! We are suppose to bite a duck's butt across... Luckily i got to bite the other end of the butt, n KB have to bite. lol When u are thinking duck butt is disgusting, next to come up is chicken butt!?! This time its so small, when we pass it, its almost like we are kissing... *Yucks!?!?!!?!?!?! Luckyily this time i am passing to CC so not really that bad, considering the disgusting KB... wahahaha

Next we had the "Swan Tian Ku La" It rather typical but as we had not much time left we wanna bluff our way thru n offer the "ang bao" we had. but the "sadistic girls" jus wanna see us eat up the stuffs, we no choice. In between asking for "angbaos" too. So in order to save the biggest angbao for the last event, we started giving out the small small ones... Untill we reach the last game which is to open the door using the keys kept in a container of cockroaches..... Although i seems very disgusting, but there were actually 5 of the "xiao qiang" so it didnt seems hard... But wat happeb next is the powder one, coz i kinda say sabo the girls by throwing them into house, in the end he really did it! Most girls were screaming away as he do it, but one girl stand out by picking it up n throwing it back at us!?!? lol *power*

After the door was opened, its the norm like kneel down, speak the wedding vow... End up we have to rush back to CCK coz the timing to meet is 7am. The merc driver did a very good job in reaching on time. I can feel that he is weaving thru the traffic which is rather congested at tat time. Being task the cam man driver is no joke man. I have to drive at relative speed to the bridal car. Which is easily 120-140km/h. Finally reach CCK then we have to "Gin Cha" which is quite a while before we set off to bottle tree park. (See pic below) Where we took some pretty funny shots. Maybe CC should give us a copy of the montage. :)

After that we went back to CC place for more "Gin cha" before we go Ade place. This time the driver drove more slowly n we took some pretty nice videos n pics. Reached Ade place was more "Gin cha" then they drove around before i send some of the Sisters back. Its a long long day for me. Hence i took a short nap before going back to Ade place. (i think i took 15mins. lol) More talking n photo taking at Ade lace then we set off to CCK again.... This time is the last time, n we packed their bags to set off to Atrium Hotel (Old glass hotel) This one only when i got to return home to rest. As i got home i really rested. Or rather sleep. For about 30mins. Coz i reach around 3, n have to meet WS at 4pm. But the 30mins proved valuable, as i didnt feel sleepy much after.

Reached the hotel n most of them are already here. Helped out on the planning of the dinner. Briefing with the banquet manager n others. Check the system n test the mic. There was this pretty pro MC that Ade got,Apparantly its her poly friend. She really got this nice accent n suitable to take up the MC job. But no thanks to CC who gave her a script of his friend. End up she didnt even caught CC name... lol. N there was much mixed up. Luckily the manager gave her another set of standard speech to help her. We even rehearsed the kids walk in throwing the rose petals. They look real CUTE!!!

Finally all is done n we are ready to bring in the guests. The sisters did quite a lot of things like, photo book, scroll, pin board for the guest to write small things about the couple. Which i find it will be memorable when the couple pisks them up when they are old. To see their friends n family writings.

Food was not so bad, (not that i have eaten much coz half the time we were busy walking around) thanks to the rest of the people on the table saving food for us. The usual goes on n i took quite a few pictures. One small thing happen to the dinner was that the projector had a ghost image somewhere in the middle of the montage. Luckily it was ade pic so it didnt really matters. Some might think its a special effect. :)

Wat was ugly in the dinner was that i actually pick up a small short wire from my bowl of sharkfins!?! I couldnt believe my eyes. Hotel food got such things??!! I imediately brought the manager n gave his a scolding. (wahahaha) He replaced the bowl n ensureed that it will not happen again. (nose long long - pinnocio style)

After more food, photo taking, its finally time for all to go. We decided to go n "Nao Dong Fang"! Made his drink a bottle of wine first. Turn out it chicken feet for the groom. Then we waited at his room, n prepare the sabotage. Sabotage was to get the groom to lay down, get a cold egg n make the bride roll the eye from the groom chest to the end of his pants. *Must go thru the belt n only the mouth can be used* U should see the part where the bride is reaching "the part" lol super funny.

Next we have the groom turn where he have to pick up sweets from "stragistic" positon on the bride while she laid down on the floor. This is yet another "chicken feet" to the groom. But we did caught some "juicy" pics from tat. *eViL gRinZ* Last we have a banana tied around the groom waist. The bride is to peel the banana. Of course, the banana is at a "special" position....

In all, the couple is quite a sporting person to play all the games, with out much trouble. :) Next to worry must be JH n VV where they prepare to their marridge next year. wahaha.

I try to load the pics here.

Photos Outdoors @ Bottle Tree Park

The wedding first part, Look his newphew so CUTE!

The wedding second part. Nice red dress.

The aftermath, No more pictures beyond this by the groom request. lol

Dinner @ ECP lagoon n repeating lecture...

To think that i can blog now, explains how bored the lecture today is.

To start, we had a new lecturer today. Prof Peilin Zhou. Seems like one lecturer who have lotsa knowledge in the diesel engine. Because from one pic, he can actually talk almost 30mins!?! lecture was bored too... Coz more or less it for the Oceanic engineering students who have little or no knowledge in the marine engine. He was trying to tell us the principals of a 4-stroke n 2-stroke engines. Something which we spent almost half a semester to understand. He also made a interesting statement to us at the start of the lecture, "U can do watever u want in my class, read newspaper, etc. But u cant talk in my class!" N he meant it, coz big bear n i were kinda "testing" his system. N end up we kinda got "marked" T_T

Boring stuffs aside.

Dinner last night was great. Not the over-fed type but jus subtle. It was a boring day as the initial intention was to go 'chomp chomp' with big bear n xiaomei for dinner. Turn out they hav something impt last min, so end up me n josh was pretty aimless to where to eat. We finally decided to go ECP lagoon hawker. Coz we tot we could jo sean along but in the end, he was "busy". lol

It my first time to lagoon since they renovated n its actually josh first time there! "mountain tortise!?!" :P
_____________________________________________________________________________________

Well, continued on tuesday, coz apparantly Mr Zhou notice that i was typing rather hard n hardworking. (lol) n came over. So he kinda stopped me. Oh did i said that he actually started the lecture by telling us that we can actually do ANYTHING in his lecture but "talking". He even mentioned reading the newspaper in class n he wont be bothered. Well, i must say he is not a "man with his words" or rather "Shou Hua Bu Suan Hua" guy....

Well, back to lagoon.

Lagoon changed quite a bit since the last last time i came. Now the stalls are all on the sides n the new seats are in the centre. There shelters here n there making it rather cozy. After a walk around the stalls, i had my eyes on the wan tan mee n josh was interested in the beef horfan. After which we saw this long queue in front of the satay beehoon stall. So i suggested to josh to get it since he kinda like it, while i try to wait for a seat. I was nvr a fan for satay beeehoon. But this one is super exceptional... When josh brought the beehoon over, i was like... "wow!" The steaming gravy totally covered the beehoon. Dun know why, i was very eager to grab a bite of it. And i was amazed. Coz its really really nice! My first time actually commenting on a plate of satay beehoon!?! Well, i guess it more satay bee hoon for me then~ Ordered the chicken wings n satay. Not the malay ones coz i always like pork satay. N got myself the wantan noodles.

The noodles was... ok loh. pretty well cooked noodles, tangy yet soft. But the char siew was very "minced" n the wantan was er... "puiny" four small small wantan jus dun fit the bowl... Was waiting for the satay n wings before ordering some "Toa tao" aka chinese mussels ba. Was worried ending up like the other time with sean like tat.So this time i was a bit more conservative on the ordering. In the end we changed our seat over to right infront of the stall. The satay was great. Tasty n soft. Taste like the long lost clementi satay stall but much more tender. Chicken wings were alright, i still prefer the cute chicken on at clementi or the one at pasir panjang FC.

In the end we didnt eat the mussels coz we were pretty full le. Walk around the lagoon n saw there was actually an installation of the indoor surfing structure. Wanted to take photos but the surfer was to fast passing us. Looks cool, maybe should try it next time.

Also miss the 'Little red house' restuarant there. Remember the other time went there with my camp mates... cant remember clearly wat liao... lol.

Tat kinda sum up my adventures there. :) Hoping to go there again.

Well, there is this saying of wonder bra...

Wow, so bra can be really wonderful man!?!

To think that the Japs can invent such a thing! Though the theory behind it is very sensible, but i dun think its necessary for the design ba.

Imagine a hungry drunken seeing this will go "Mmm... Food!" Well, i wouldnt think about the rest. :P

Below is Sunset way. Finally, a happening food pplace in the west n its really happening loh. I remembered last time josh was telling me bout this ice cream cafe down the road. So since we were nearby, we decided to drop by n try it out.

Ice cream were interesting, coz they have baileys choco chip, rum n raisin, n tequila somethng something. These are the few that i m interested ba. Tried the honey vanilla, n its... (like wat xiaomei said) DIABETIC!!!

The Ice cream n waffles we ate.

Dinner was rocky's super big pizza, 16"... OMG n the three of us share only. -_-"

The chicken wings there. I am pretty sure there are better ones out there.

Huge crab from Zhen Fa live seafood.

More huge crabs

Huge fish too!

Josh cooked pineapple rice at big bear's house. ITs "FANTASTIC" but a bit on the sweet side. Not to eat a lots too coz its filling n can feel a bit "Nee"

Closed up of the pineapple.

More close up, notice that i took the pic using N95. Wahahaha

Late night dinner at Bedok 85 market. Lotsa food. There were chicken wings, satays, famous "ba chor mee", "choock", stingray, pork kunckle, satay bee hoon n sugar cane juice. Guess how many people eating this? ----- (3)

*faint

Famous Ice kachang at Tanjong Pagar FC. Wat makes it famous must be the shaved ice. coz its really very smooth. Melts in ur mouth. n the red bean too... u actually dun taste the shell of the red bean. Jus melts... GOOD!

Not so famous chendol at Tanjong Pagar FC

Mushroom soup that josh made at my home the other day. Its super nice loh... Some more made from rare materials. No canned stuffs like wat i did the other day loh. :)
